NEW: Grief Support

A blue circular badge, with a sun icon in the center, that reads "Certified Grief Educator by David Kessler + grief.com"

I’m pleased to announce that I will now be offering grief support, including groups, one-on-one coaching, and a new weekly newsletter called The Comfort Corner. More details here.

There are some things that happen in life that are forever a “before” and “after.” My sister’s death was one of those things for me. My life is forever changed, and so am I.

Since the spring I’ve had a feeling that I was being called into something else in my coaching practice, but I couldn’t see the shape of it yet. I got quiet over the summer, hoping to feel my way through. I immersed myself in new things and took some additional trainings.

I’m pleased to announce that I am now a Certified Grief Educator, having completed a 12-week intensive training with David Kessler, one of the world’s leading grief experts, to learn methodology and tools for helping people navigate grief’s challenges. In my coaching practice I’ll be bringing together the tools and experience I’ve gained as a grief educator, certified coach, clinical social worker, and griever to support people through all kinds of loss.

I’m committed to changing the way that we come to grief, to helping people feel more supported in carrying their pain, to making room for loss at the table, and to helping people move forward in a way that feels true to them, without ever feeling like they have to “move on.”

Here’s the short version of what all this means, with more details below:

  • The primary focus of my coaching practice will now be support around grief and loss, including one-on-one coaching, support groups, and free online events where people can gather to talk about grief (The Grief Snack Club).

  • My newsletter is shifting into a weekly letter called The Comfort Corner, designed to help people feel supported in their grief. Read on to help you decide if it’s for you.

  • I’m continuing indefinitely with my current life coaching clients, and there is still a chance to work with me for more general life coaching. More below.

And now for all the details:

Grief support. If you’d like a peek into my grief support services, you can visit here. In the coming weeks I’ll be transitioning my entire website to reflect my new focus and will be sharing more details about offerings.

The Comfort Corner. The Comfort Corner is a place for people to feel seen and supported, to have their grief normalized, and to be connected with resources. While we tend to think of grief as it relates to death, every loss is a loss. My hope is to touch on all kinds of grief in The Comfort Corner, so if you’re interested in learning more about how we can be in a different relationship with loss, I invite you to sign up here.

Life coaching. I’m continuing with my current coaching clients indefinitely (and if you are a past client, there will always be a home for you too!), but I don’t know how long I will continue to bring on new folks for general coaching. If you might be interested in life coaching, please contact me so we can talk more before I close my doors on that.

If you here because you were looking for joy, thank you. If you came here because you were looking for someone who understood your grief, thank you. It’s been a painful, messy road trying to figure out what life looks for me after loss - and it’s still very much a work in progress - but this is one change that I’m sure of. Living with grief in a culture that is grief illiterate is lonely and painful, and I know that we can do better. I look forward to creating a warm, welcoming, affirming space where people in grief can feel supported and seen.
