Frequently Asked Questions

  • The consultation call is an opportunity for us to ensure that working together would be a good fit for your needs and goals. I will ask you a few questions about you, your history, and what you are looking for in therapy. I will also tell you more about working with me and give you the opportunity to ask questions to help you determine if I am the right therapist for you.

You can schedule your consultation call by contacting me here. Typically I can schedule your first therapy session within 1-2 weeks of our consultation call.

  • I provide services both virtually and in-person in Media, PA. In-person sessions are available in a beautiful, sun-filled space located in Media Borough (see photos below). Online sessions are held via video on a secure telehealth platform. Please note that, due to licensing restrictions, I provide therapy to Pennsylvania residents only.

  • $130 per 50-minute session.

It’s important to me that everyone has access to skilled support. If you are unable to access therapy due to financial need, I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available. Please contact me for more information.

  • I am not in network with any insurance companies. This means that I do not bill insurance for services and that you are responsible for paying your session fee in full at the time of service.

I am considered an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement of your therapy costs. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a statement (commonly known as a “superbill”) to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

While I recognize that insurance can make therapy more affordable, unfortunately it can also limit the duration of your therapy and the types of treatment you can receive. Choosing not to contract with insurance companies allows me to provide you with support that is uniquely tailored to you and your needs to ensure you receive the best possible care.

If you are unable to access therapy due to financial need, I have a limited number of sliding scale sessions available. Please contact me for more information.

  • If you are new to therapy, I’m so glad that you are considering it. Many of my clients are first-timers and feel nervous about what it will be like. While many people imagine that therapy looks like lots of tears (which it sometimes does) and lots of revisiting your past (which it sometimes does), the reality is that therapy is much more nuanced than that. It's not unusual at all for therapy sessions to include laughter, celebration, and moments of lightness and play. Therapy can feel like a huge relief, and it can even be fun! While it can also sometimes be uncomfortable, we'll develop a style of working together that feels supportive and safe. Working at a pace that feels right for you—while also gently challenging you when that may be helpful—is always a priority for me.

  • I understand that when you are struggling, it can feel impossible to do one more thing. My hope is to create a space where you can feel supported, held, and cared for in a way that feels restorative. My goal is never to “push” you but to meet you where you are and to walk alongside you in a gentle and supportive way. I will always follow your lead.

  • Grief is as complicated as humans are. While the general narrative is that losing a loved one leaves us feeling sad, in truth we may feel any number of emotions, including relief, after a person has died. If you had a complicated relationship with the person you’ve lost, it can feel even more difficult to tell the truth about your grief and to feel like your loss is understood. Together we can sit with all the complicated emotions that arise and help you make sense of how you are feeling.

  • I currently only work with adults (ages 18+). If you are looking for support for children or youth, I recommend starting with The Dougy Center for online resources and to locate support in your area. (Also, a little note to say thank you for making sure that the children in your life are getting support. What a beautiful and important thing you are doing for them.)

  • I currently provide individual therapy only. Couples counseling and family therapy are unique skill sets, and I recommend seeking out professionals who are specially trained in these areas.

  • Clients have access to my secure online client portal through Simple Practice. Using the portal, you can:

  • A Good Faith Estimate provides you with an estimate for the cost of your therapy. This estimate is based on your individual needs for services and the rate at which you will be charged for services. It is offered to help you understand how much you may be financially investing in therapy so that there will be no surprises when you are billed for these services.

As a health care provider, I am required to give clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services.

A Good Faith Estimate form is included within the initial intake packet sent to clients who are planning to engage in services with me. You can also ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service with me and at any time throughout your treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. A copy will also be available to you in your client portal.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • Please contact me as soon as possible if you know that you are unable to attend a session. I will do my best to accommodate your needs to cancel or reschedule. However, I do require that you contact me at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled time; if you do not do so, you will be charged the full session fee. This fee is waived for emergencies.

  • I would be happy to answer any other questions that you have. Please contact me here.
